Hey Everyone!
I created this blog because there are many things in life that I have felt needed more transparency like my mental health or some of my financial situations. Transparency is not an easy thing for many people, for a variety of reasons. This blog is an opportunity to be transparent and to share those experiences that others may relate to.
I've spoken with friends and have begun to notice that the level I have with them is not the same I would have with a significant other or my family. Sometimes there are things I explain to my friends that I would not tell my family and vice versa, not in fear that they would not care, but that I felt ashamed. It took me opening up to someone who did not judge me to finally look at how I handle things. Once that was done, I spoke with a friend and decided to open up on different things.
I have noticed everyone has a different transparency level with different people, even themselves, whether they have noticed it or not.
Now, I am not saying you have to be transparent with everyone, but you should be transparent with yourself. Trust yourself and be sure, to be honest, and credible, especially in relationships, whether it be work, school, or home.
There will always be situations in which you don’t want to be transparent like the toxic relationships you may come across.
Being Melanated & Transparent does not mean you need to open up to each and every person you see nor does it mean you give up secrets and pieces of yourself when you feel uncomfortable. Trust in yourself in those situations to discern whether that is what you want to do.
See you next time!
