Have you ever wanted to do something and talked yourself out of it even though you knew it was a great opportunity for you and it may never happen again? I have too many times to count.
Self-sabotage is the enabling of your own habits, generally negative ones, just because you feel like it will not count because you are not where you wish to be. There are times when you know you shouldn't do something but in that moment you might not care because it is not affecting something right then.
Self-sabotage in my opinion occurs when your mind is at odds with itself. For instance, one side is telling you that you need to eat healthily and save money the money you just got from that good paycheck but the other side tells you to go eat that chocolate cake you made and go online shopping.
Entrepreneur.com had a really good post that stated, "Self-sabotage involves behaviors or thoughts that keep you away from what you desire most in life. It’s that internal sentiment gnawing at us, saying 'you can’t do this.'"
Instead of jumping the opportunity or combating challenges, we will stop ourselves in an effort to stay safe and protected where we are. For some, this may be because of fear or a way to protect ourself but that self-sabotage stops us from hitting our goals sooner. We end up forgoing our dreams and goals. In the end, we know we missed out, but we may not truly understand why at that moment due to something we did in the past.
Today we will combat this self-sabotage by doing one thing that we have been putting off. If you were supposed to be researching for your business, or doing school work, or even just calling a loved one, go ahead and get started. Do not stop yourself from achieving something you know in your heart is for you.
