We all know that loyalty has a lot of weight in many different situations, but what happens when that loyalty backfires?

Loyalty is something that many people do not negotiate within various relationships. It is something that can make or break relationships as well. To many, loyalty means dedication or commitment to something or someone. This does not mean you have to be naive. Do not let your loyalty become slavery, whether to a person or a cause.

Your loyalty should be genuine and not just because of the position someone has in your life. Just because the person is your boss does not mean you follow them when you know they are wrong. You also need to show integrity. If your morals are not aligning with what someone is doing, DO NOT blindly follow because you feel an obligation out of love or loyalty to them.

There is nothing wrong with not giving loyalty and trust to some people, organizations, or causes. If you have a bad feeling about it after researching, it is okay to walk away from it. Do not let others pressure you into doing something because they are. Betrayal does not come from an enemy, and it is hard to understand and forgive.

Do not let yourself be used for the pleasure and greatness of another. Be authentic but also mindful. It is okay to say no, especially if you have that feeling that it is not right. Follow your moral compass, don't just jump off the bridge because everyone else did.
