What have you been spending your energy on? Are you fighting a battle that is pointless (i.e. talking/ fussing with those who won't listen)? Are you quietly building your brand?
I know I do not have the energy to spare on things that do not matter such as fighting battles for others (that have nothing to do with me), fussing with closed-minded people, or even just things that just do not benefit me at all. I know you more than likely do not either. Now is a great time to use your energy to do something that will propel you forward in the coming months and years.
What you spend your energy and time on is important. Have you ever thought about what you spend that energy on? Every thought, process, and movement takes energy whether it is negative or positive. The negative will expend more energy than the positive.
Reading and talking about energies brought about interesting ways of spending and investing. Silvia Salow gave wonderful examples of spending and investing that I absolutely agreed on.
You spend your energy when:
you feel tired
you have negative thoughts
you’re upset, jealous, nervous, stressed, sad, depressed, etc.
you live in the past or future
you don’t believe in yourself or your dreams
You invest your energy whenever you:
feel inspired and positive
live in the present moment
uplift others (and yourself) find strength in the midst of hardship
decide to follow your heart instead of fears
Knowing where you're spending your energy will help you find where you may need to invest it. Right now, I am investing my energy in following my heart and trusting myself. I use my positive energy on my shadows (cousins) and I minimize the negative energy by limiting my time on social media or even removing myself from situations I know can be harmful to me.
Take some time to write down things you believe you spend your energy on and then see if that item is actually worth the energy spent. Find time to invest and do things that boost your energy like a phone call with a good friend, reading a book, even making a vision board. Make the investment this year in you!
