Meet Miss Kristen D. Parks

Also known as KD, a Certified P-12 Music Educator who has a knack for education & inspiration. She is Afrocentric, down-to-earth, and loves to impart her wisdom & knowledge to others.

When did you start?/ How long have you been going?

I started designing in 2015.

What inspired you to create your business and how did you motivate yourself to keep going when things were difficult?

What inspired me was the need to express myself without having to say a word. As a music teacher and a singer, I am ALWAYS using my voices. I started designing t-shirts as a way to say something impactful or inspirational without using my voice, but my style.

What Book Are You Currently Reading?

Ephesians in the Bible. Lol. No, seriously. I love reading the Bible. I’ve really learned to love God’s Word, and the book of Ephesians really gives some strong examples of how we should act as Christians.

Who is your Biggest Inspiration?

My biggest inspirations are my music educators and my parents. They have all always encouraged me in my gifts and efforts. They give me a lot of grit and audacity to be the type of young, educated, and talented black woman that I am!

Name a favorite business website?

BathAndBodyWorks.com! I’m beyond addicted. I love their marketing. And their colors are always so vibrant and inviting.

How do you define success?

To me, success is achieving those goals that you always dreamed about, while also making small strides that nobody can see. Success will never look the same to anybody. So success is the way I feel about my life every day and night. Sometimes, just having a peaceful day is a success in itself.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

BE REAL ABOUT IT! Meaning, own your stuff. Be who you are and take accountability for ALL of that. God sees you, and the spirits of those who know Him do, too. Don’t fake break. BE REAL ABOUT IT!

Where can we find you? (social media, websites, etc.)

Anything you want to add?

I believe that it’s so important to highlight those really striving for excellence. So many people get overlooked. And we help create spaces to expose their greatness.
