Hi, I'm Anjelica and the owner of Jamille's Joy Shop! The story of me revolves around the US military. I am a 100% Air Force brat, born and raised. And now I have been an Army wife for 10 years. Although I have not served myself, I definitely have an appreciation and respect for our service members. I am in the education field but have decided to take a break from teaching and pushing myself out of my comfort zone and run my business full-time. My inspiration and motivations are my kids and starting my own pattern of generational wealth. By running this business, I'm letting them know that all things are possible and you have to be your own biggest fan!
When did you start?/ How long have you been going?
I started my online shop in January 2020. It was my New Years Resolution to begin a new career path.
What inspired you to create your business and how did you motivate yourself to keep going when things were difficult?
I started my own business because I noticed that I had a skill that could not waste. I always had the hobby of creating things, and then one day I was browsing Etsy and I began thinking about how I could finally do something I love for a living. I used to be a teacher and I LOVED it, but I do love entrepreneurship even more. When times got difficult I found my motivation in my kids. I never let them quit what they've started. So what kind of example would I be if I were to just give up because times got hard or because something didn't go as planned?
What Book Are You Currently Reading?
Make your bed by William McRaven
Who is your Biggest Inspiration?
My dad. He raised my sister and I while being an Airman and a single dad. He's the best!
Name a favorite business website?
I like to listen to a podcast called "Therapy for Black Girls" by Joy Bradford. She also has a website at www.therapyforblackgirls.com
How do you define success?
Success to me means being truly happy with yourself. That doesn't always mean how much money you have, but meeting your goals and having a balance in your life that works for you. That means having a good balance in your personal, and professional life, and not forgetting to take care of yourself first.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
My dad has always given me great advice, the best one that I have been given is "If your plan involves someone else, then you need another plan."
Where can we find you? (social media, websites, etc.)
Anything you want to add?
